1. What we collect
When you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive your account profile information from that provider and store it with your No Red Pen teacher account:
Full name
Your Google or Microsoft account, when you sign in with one
Shown in the app so you can tell your account apart.
Email address
Your Google or Microsoft account, or the address you type when signing up
Used to sign you in and keep your assignments and grades tied to you.
Profile picture
Your Google account, when available
Displayed as your avatar in the top bar.
We do not ask for anything beyond this to create your account.
When you use classroom features, we also save the student names and class periods you add to your rosters, scanned papers, grading results, and handwriting features linked to student identities you confirm. Paper images and handwriting features are processed by our AI service to grade work and suggest matches for unnamed papers. Suggestions are estimates and require your confirmation.
2. How we use it
Your profile information is used solely for:
- • Authenticating you — confirming that you are the teacher who owns the account.
- • Managing your classroom and grading preferences — your assignments, answer keys and rubrics, student papers, grades, feedback settings, and the records you export.
We do not use your profile information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose outside running the app for you.
3. We do not sell your data
We do not sell user data to third parties. We do not share your account information or your students' work with anyone for their own marketing or commercial use.
4. Your choices
- • You can delete your assignments and student papers from the app at any time.
- • Removing a roster student deletes their saved handwriting samples; previously graded papers remain until you delete them.
- • You can stop using No Red Pen and request removal of your account and the data stored with it.
If you have a question about this policy or want your account data removed, please contact the No Red Pen team.
5. Service providers we use
We share data only with providers that help us run No Red Pen, and only as needed to provide the service:
- • Google and Microsoft — sign-in, when you choose those options.
- • Stripe — processes Pro subscription payments. Your card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- • Database and hosting providers — store your account, rosters, papers, and grades.
- • AI processing providers — read and grade scanned papers. Paper content is sent only to produce your results, not to train public AI models.
- • Google Classroom and Canvas — only when you connect them, to import rosters and send the scores you choose.
6. Security and retention
Data is sent over encrypted connections, and each teacher's records are accessible only to their own account. LMS access tokens are stored encrypted. We keep your data while your account is active and delete it when you delete it in the app or ask us to remove your account, except for limited billing and usage records we must keep for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify affected users of a breach as required by law.
7. Children and student data
No Red Pen is for educators, not children, and we do not knowingly let children create accounts. Student information is uploaded by teachers, who are responsible for having any required school or parental consent. Parents with questions about a student's data should contact the teacher or school, who can ask us to delete it.
8. Changes and contact
We will update this page when this policy changes and revise the date above. Questions or data removal requests: support@noredpen.com.
