How to Get Paper Test Grades Into Canvas Without Typing
Skip hand-entering scores. Learn how to scan paper tests, review the scores, and send them to a Canvas assignment in one click with No Red Pen.
The double-entry problem
Grading on paper usually means grading twice: once with a pen and again when you type every score into Canvas. With 100+ students, that's a lot of typing and a lot of chances for a typo.
Connect Canvas once
In No Red Pen, add your Canvas connection from your account settings. Then pick the course and assignment you want scores to go to.
Only approved scores go out
Scores are sent only after you've reviewed and approved them, and each one is matched to the exact student in your Canvas course so the wrong student never gets a grade. You can include the feedback comments too, or leave them off.
Using Google Classroom or another gradebook?
Import your class lists from Google Classroom or a spreadsheet, then sync approved scores straight into a Google Classroom assignment — as drafts or returned to students — when you're done reviewing.
